Apisit Koedchatturat Becomes New WPMF Champion

Xavier Bastard to Try Again in May?
The results are in for the January 15th, 2011 event Muay Thai in Vannes, France. Apisit Koedchatturat of Thailand wins on points against France’s Xavier Bastard to become the new World Professional Muay Thai Federation Champion (WPMF) at 60 kg. It should be noted Apisit recently defeated the number 2 ranked fighter in Rajadamnern Stadium by KO and has been on a consistent run of wins in Thailand.
Apparently, Bastard had problems finding his rhythm and fell behind on points. Ultimately Bastard’s difficulties resulted in his loss and Apisit picks up the formerly vacant WPMF world championship. Speculatively, the home town pressure may have added to Bastard’s difficulties with Apisit.
Reportedly, a rematch is already in the works for a May 15th date. Whether the WPMF title is again staked is not yet known.
In other results Bobo Sacko (France) defeated Olivier Guidicelli (Italy)
Aiello Batonon vs. Johane Beausejour ended in a tie.
