Buakaw Por Pramuk in Thai Fight
As many of you know there is some very significant news about Buakaw Por Pramuk and his coming events. First Buakaw will be fighting Thai Fight runner up Yussef Boughanhem at the February 12th, 2011 event, La Nuit Des Titans in Tours, France. Then Buakaw is expected to participate in Thai Fight itself though in what capacity is not known yet. Whether in a tournament or in a super fight Buakaw’s appearance is already being heavily advertised in support of Thai Fight’s 2nd round of tournaments and qualifiers have already been underway in Thailand.
Buakaw recently sat down with a French Muay Thai journalist to discuss these upcoming fights. Pretty impressive piece of video. It opens with Buakaw working out and demonstrating some impressive skills on the pads and the heavy bag.
For non French and Thai speakers this is my rough translation of what Buakaw had to say.
Question: Thank you for talking to us. How are you preparing for Youssef Boughanhem?
Buakaw:I’m training as usual. I’ll be ready for this one.
Question: Why weren’t you fighting in to K-1 this year?
Buakaw Por Pramuk: Because I had another tournament in Japan Shootboxing.
I hope we’ll do a good match (with Boughanhem) and that the French fans will enjoy it.
And don’t forget I’ll be there in Tours, France. Wait for me I’m coming.
Question: Do you remember your first fight in France?
Buakaw Por Pramuk: Yes, it was a few years ago against Morad Sari. We did a draw, it was in Paris.
Question: Do you know your opponent?
Buakaw Por Pramuk: Yes, he fought in a tournament “Thai Fight” and he finished 2nd.
Question: You fought under K-1 rules for years. Will it be hard to come back to Muay Thai rules especially against an opponent that knows Muay Thai very well?
Buakaw Por Pramuk: No, Muay Thai remains Muay Thai. We just use it in addition with elbows and knees. I’m very happy to come back to Muay Thai.
