Mourad Sari

Mourad Sari was an A class champion France in 1992 and 1993, in 1994 he made his first fight in Thailand at a huge gala in the north to Chiang Rai to over ten thousand spectators.

Rambowjeaw was sort of the spiritual predecessor to Bovy Sor Udomson with his all out forward only attack. The two met and fought at the S-1 2004 tournament in the B-divison.

Cosmo Alexandre versus Giorgio Petrosyan at Oktagon

Cosmo Alexandre Vs Giorgio Petrosyan

Fight Code rolls on with its third event co-promoting with  Oktagon in Italy.  The main event match is definitely going to appeal to kickboxing and Muay Thai fans alike as Cosmo Alexandre is scheduled to fight K-1 MAX champion Giorgio Petrosyan.  Though Cosmo Alexandre himself has spoke on his preference for real Muay Thai rules he  captured the It’s Showtime championship under kickboxing rules.  Alexandre first made waves on the international circuit of Muay Thai by fighting and beating Wanlop Sitpholek for the World Professional Muay Thai Federation (WPMF) championship in Thailand.

Petrosyan despite starting out in full rules Muay Thai came to broader acclaim by participating in the struggling Japanese promotion K-1 MAX where he became its last tournament champion. Petrosyan also recently fought and beat some big international name Thai talents in Sudsakorn Klinmee and Kem Sitsongpeenong.  Both matches were held under K-1 rules where arguably some of the Thai opponents’ best weapons could not be utilized.

In the single Muay Thai match of the evening Belarus standout Andrei Kulebin will fight Thai Fight season one champion, Fabio Pinca. Kulebin has fought consistently against the most dangerous Thais competing internationally but fell short against Sudsakorn Klinmee at the WKN sanctioned Big 8 in Belarus tournament.

Fabio Pinca of course has fought a long list of name Thaiboxers internationally including beating Petchmankong Petchfocus to win the Thai Fight tournament.  Apparently, Fabio’s time in Thailand has treated him well and he appears to be growing from strength to strength.

Armen Petrosyan, the brother of Giorgio Petrosyan seems to exhibit the same skills that made an international star of Giorgio. Armen has the same slickness and ring intelligence that has helped him prevail in so many fights.  He will be matched against Yoshiro Sato.

Yoshiro Sato despite being best known for his K-1 MAX career and Japanese championship has an extensive Muay Thai background.  Sato fought and beat nearly all comers with All Japan Kickboxing Federation (now defunct) in Japan.  Sato has stopped opponents with his long knees and yes, actually his punches. The high point for Sato may have been his KO of Buakaw Por Pramuk in K-1 MAX competition.

Overall, this is a very strong looking card but I cannot help but wonder how much better it could have been had every fight on the card been under full Muay Thai Rules.

The full card known so far is:

Giorgio Petrosyan vs. Cosmo Alexandre

Armen Petrosyan vs. Yoshiro Sato

Khalid Bourdiff vs. Marcus Oberg

Fabio Pinca vs. Andrei Kulebin

In the Fight Code tournament at 71 kg

Dzhabar Azkerov

Sudsakorn Klinmee

Buakaw Vs. Youssef Boughanhem

La Nuit Des Titans

Buakaw Por Pramuk emerges victorious from La Nuit Des titans event in Tours, France.  Buakaw’s opponent was the Thai Fight 2 finalist Youssef Boughanhem.  It was apparent during the fight that Youssef had much difficulties with his shoulder being dislocated and in fact it proved to be a factor in the fight. Unfortunately, it made for a somewhat anti-climatic fight and one can only hope that much needed surgery can be performed soon on Boughanhem and he can return to his old form.

French fans of Youssef have been aware of this long endured injury since his days of battling on Thai Channel 7 where the injury likely is from.

Leading up to the fight Buakaw did look sharper and better than he has for some time and apparently returning to full Muay Thai rules competition was no great difficulty.  Prior to this bout with Boughanhem, Buakaw Por Pramuk became the 2010 Shootboxing S-Cup tournament champion.

Watch the video of the bout below to see for yourself the result of the fight.

Les Rois Du Ring Quick Results 2-12-2011

Les Rois Du Ring III

By all appearances Les Rois Du Ring III was a more than reasonable success with a well attended and well organized fight gala that delivered mostly on its expectations.  I am still gathering results but some of them are now known. Co-sponsored by Hennion gym the event in Loudres featured Italy based former Lumpinee champion Sak Kaoponlek. The known results are as follows:

Karim Souda defeats Mike Schmidt on the points after a very high paced fight that  apparently maintained its pace from start to finish.

Sak Kaponglek defeats Elias Aharram on a reportedly very wide points victory.  It was also noted that Kaoponlek was merciful to Aharram when he had him in some danger.

Lain-Zinedine Hameur defeats Sinistra Frederic by TKO stoppage. The referee called a halt to the action after a front kick from Hameur broke Sinistra’s nose in about 30 seconds into the first round.

I will continue to update news of the results as I receive them.
