Hayabusa Fight Night 2012

Results were slow coming back to me but I managed to get some of them and most with the big names. This was likely  the biggest and best event to close out the year in Hong Kong.  Hayabusa Fight Night 2012 had some very big names on their card. The results that I know of are as follows.  If can find the videos of the event I will post them up as well. Continue reading ‘Hayabusa Fight Night 2012 Quick Results’

Orono Por Muang Ubon

Orono Por. Muang Ubon started competing in Muay Thai at age 11.  At the age of 15 he joined the Por Muang Ubon camp and became known among the Thai media as “Super Black”.  Orono is considered  a legend of Muay Thai and in my opinion correctly so.  Orono’s accomplishments even among great Thaiboxers stands out.  Orono is a 3x Lumpinee Champion, and a King’s Cup tournament winner and Sports Writers of Thailand’s pick of Fighter of the Year. MTG Global 1’s Inaugural card

Muay Thai Global is a new promotion coming to California, USA. It’s often heard and just as often true it’s easier to get fights as an amateur in Muay Thai than it is as a professional fighter especially if you’re a female fighter. So while, new promotions aren’t new or unique in the storied history of Muay Thai promotions in the USA there are very few that will give professional fighters an opportunity to fight on a promotion’s first card. Another critical difference is that these are not modified rules fights these are full Muay Thai rules with no shin pads or elbow pads. Continue reading ‘The Inaugural Card of MTG Global 1’

Thai Boxe Mania

I’ve been watching this particular card develop for a while in Italy and it looks like the card has solidified into its final form. I like that the card is genuinely an international affair. But most interesting to me is the entree of Berneung Top King Boxing. Berneung has been busy internationally and recently fought Tobias Alexandersson in a close but losing effort. Berneung has also been a regular on Thai Fight.  He’s an entertaining fighter who seldom lets his opponents off the hook once he has them hurt, which is often. Muay Thai Warriors

Muaythai Warriors in Macau comes on the 9th of December, 2012. And it looks like a great card to close out the year.  I can only hope more of the fights make it to broadcast than the last outing. The card has changed somewhat with some titles changed and some names added and subtracted from this event. Continue reading ‘Muay Thai Warriors Coming to Macau Dec.9th, 2012 – Kamen Picken Is Real’

Eric Hyer Drilling mitts

Eric Hyer is a name that’s been around the USA Muay Thai scene since Muay Thai was becoming a bigger entity in the United States.  Eric was a Ray Longo student when he began fighting and training at the age of 16. Eventually, he got the invite to train at the newly minted Fairtex USA training facility in Arizona. From there he went on to fight and train in both Thailand and Hong Kong. When Eric eventually made the return to New York he quickly became busy closely working with MMA standouts like Matt Serra and Al Iaquinta. Continue reading ‘Eric Hyer On Legkick Pad and Mitts’

Bareknuckle Muay Thai

The allure of bareknuckle Muay Thai continues.  Though truthfully most of the fighters are no where the level of what one might see in the stadiums of Thailand or among fighters fighting internationally it holds interest among people still. Continue reading ‘Sometimes Bigger Isn’t Better’

Muay Thai Mayhem 3

Frank Lee’s Muay Thai Kickboxing Gym has been something of a fixture in the Edmonton, Alberta’s Muay Thai and kickboxing scene. And it indeed has some history to it including amongst Frank Lee’s gym’s ranks is Billy Chow movie actor of Jet Li’s films like Fist of Legend.  He was also the WKA super welter weight champion in the 80s. Famously, it was also a one time training home for K-1’s Michael McDonald. Now Frank Lee is bringing a new card in one of several events Chow’s has brought called Muay Thai Mayhem 3.
