Tup Tim

Much thanks goes to James Goyder for this news. Kru Nai (Mr. Rattanachai Jadngooluem), a trainer at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket has a7-month old daughter, Tuptim, who has been diagnosed with a Bilary Obstruction.

She is in need of a liver transplant which will cost 1.5 million Thai Baht (around $50,000). Though this initial fund has thus far been raised. Tuptim’s fund raising will continue to enable Tuptims parents to pay for the medication needed after surgery. This will cost around $1,000 a month for ten years, $120,000.

Nai earns around 10,000 Baht a month and simply cannot afford this. If you are interested in making a donation visit:http://savetubtim.yolasite.com/

Jomthong Chuwattana

Jomthong Chuwattana fights Li Teng at the Bruce Lee 70th Birthday Celebration event in China.  The fights were conducted under a ‘unified’ rule set allowing both sanda and Muay Thai rules but with padded elbows. Judge for yourself how the fight was decided when the very decorated Jomthong of Thailand fights his opponent in China. No spoiler, but note how Teng literally runs away from Jomthong.

Steven Wakeling Returns

After first being announced as an 8-man tournament, “The Champions Club” tournament announced that the format will now be changed to a 4-man tournament. The sixth edition of the “The Champions Club” will take place in Pattaya, Thailand on Saturday, January 8, 2011. In the same evening Steve Wakeling will fight  to win the WBC world belt in 168 lbs (76.364 kg) against the Thai Jaowchalam Chatjankogym. Wakeling had fought and beaten Australia’s John Wayne Parr in his last run before his return today. It will be interesting to see if Steven Wakeling can return to the same form that made him a champion in his first run as a professional fighter.

Also on the card is a scheduled super fight between French Thaiboxer Mickael Lallemand against Thailand’s Sittichai Sitsongpeenong.

The known card is as follows:

WBC Muay Thai Super Middleweight World Title (168 lbs, 76,364 kg)

33kg, 5×2 mins

Matthias Pattaya Combat (Italy) V Patrick Yee (USA)

58kg, 5×3 mins

Sittichai Sitsongpeenong (Thailand) vs. Mickael Lallemand (France)

67kg, 5×3 mins

Rachalot Sakasem Resort (Thailand) v Baadonlek Sitbaandon (Thailand)

60kg 5×3 min

Kwanja Kruapairo (Thailand) v Silach Sitcheat (Thailand)

Interestingly, enough it looks like both the WBC and WMC independent sanctions will be working together on the same card which marks the first time ever the rival sanctions have worked on the same card.

Zhang Kaiyin Celebrates in the Ring

The Bruce Lee 70th Birthday Celebrations are done and the results are in.  As is prone for many to do (and not without justification) accusations have begun to fly that the Chinese sanda fighters who met Muay Thai fighters under unified rules relied on biased judging or cheating to fight.  Judge for yourself.  The first fight for your consideration is Australia’s John Wayne Parr versus China’s Zhang Kaiyin.
